I was the subject of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order which limited me to only “peaceful Contact” with my former wife; later, I was charged with violating that protective order under Penal Code Section 273.6(a) when I sent angry text messages which contained obscenity to her. The police were able to get the text messages and I was charged. If I had been convicted of this charge I would have to complete a 52 domestic violence program and be on three years of probation.
