Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

I was charged and cited with Penal Code Section 22210 (Possession of a Prohibited Weapon) as a misdemeanor for having an expandable baton in my bag. I had forgotten the item was in my possession and when I went thought Airport Security they saw it and cited me. I was very concerned about this because my job requires a clean record and I did not want this charge to effect my employment.
